The LSU women’s team was preparing to play Iowa and star player Caitlin Clark. When the National Anthem was on, the LSU team was absent for it while the Iowa team was standing united and paying respects. LSU’s coach made an excuse for it after LSU lost to Iowa 94-87 in the Elite 8. This is a good thing because the LSU team has a history of missing the National Anthem. No matter what the coach says, missing the National Anthem should not be happening by any team. That’s part of the routine when it comes to these games, so there’s no excuse for this.

Head Coach Kim Mulkey’s excuse was not a good one. She claimed it was not intentional, but LSU has a history of missing the National Anthem, so it sounds intentional to me. Mulkey said: “Honestly I don’t even know when the anthem was played… We kind of have a routine where we are on the floor then they come off at the 12-minute mark. I don’t know. We come in and we do our pre-game stuff. I’m sorry. Listen, that’s nothing intentionally done.”
