An update on Shannen Doherty’s health is being provided.
The actress, 52, disclosed on Tuesday that a CT scan performed on January 5 revealed she had brain metastases in addition to her February 2020 stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis.
According to the Mayo Clinic, the illness develops when cancer cells migrate from their initial place to the brain.
She captioned an Instagram video of her having radiation therapy, “January 12, the first round of radiation took place. “It’s clear I’m afraid. There was a lot going on in my life, and I suffer from severe claustrophobia.
She stated, “I am blessed to have fantastic doctors like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the incredible technologists at Cedar Sinai. “But this is what cancer can look like. The anxiety, the confusion, the timing of it all.”
Doherty’s admission follows her sharing a video of herself getting fitted for the mask she wore while receiving treatment on June 5 on Instagram with the caption “January 9, 2023.”
Doherty previously provided an update on her health at a Charmed panel at 90s Con in March, led by PEOPLE’s Breanne L. Heldman and featuring Rose McGowan, Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause, Dorian Gregory, and Drew Fuller.
Doherty responded, “I’m feeling great, thank you! ” when asked how she was feeling. … This audience is incredible.
Doherty has frequently shared updates on her treatment after receiving her initial breast cancer diagnosis in 2015 and disclosing that the disease had come back after remission in 2017.
“Is everything lovely? NO, but it’s real, and by sharing, I hope that we can all learn more and gain a better understanding of what cancer looks like. She made her statement on Instagram in October 2021. “I hope I’ve inspired people to get mammograms, to have routine checkups, to overcome their fears, and to take on whatever may be in front of them,” she said.
