MOM SHARED A PHOTO BREASTFEEDING HER TODDLER IN PUBLIC. NOW, SHE’S ANSWERING ALL THE CRITICISM.

People have been arguing for a long time about whether moms should breastfeed their babies in public. Now, a young mom is joining the conversation and making some people upset.

When a baby is hungry, they don’t care where they are or what time it is. Some moms feel a bit uneasy about breastfeeding in public, but not this young mom. She wants to strongly support breastfeeding in public.

Trinati breastfeeds her 17-month-old daughter and does it wherever they happen to be. This often means breastfeeding in public. Even though she’s not shy about it, not everyone around her is comfortable with the idea. Sometimes, she gets strange looks, and store employees have even directed her to broom closets, thinking she might be more ‘comfortable’ breastfeeding there.

So, here’s what happened. Trinati didn’t like being directed to broom closets for breastfeeding her baby. She wanted to change that. She had her son take a picture of her breastfeeding her baby girl at Costco. Trinati said, “I never shy away from providing my children with what they may need from me based on our surroundings.”

But it’s not just strangers giving her a hard time. Even friends and family ask her, “How long are you going to do ‘that’ for?” And every time she answers with “As long as she needs me to!” Sometimes, they make uncomfortable jokes about her breastfeeding her daughter till kindergarten!

Trinati is tired of people making her breastfeeding look weird or sexual. She said, “Really? Have you SEEN breastfeeding breasts? My nipples are very far from looking like something someone may fantasize about! Ha!”

Trinati wants to make something clear: her breasts are not meant to be sexy right now. She compared them to udders and said, “Get over yourself! I’m not trying to steal your man or lady with these bad girls! To me, they have become so far from feeling like a sexual part of my body. Right now they belong to my child for nourishment, both physically and emotionally.”

She’s on a mission to show that breastfeeding is about giving a child what they need, not something sexual. Trinati shared, “I don’t expect all men or those who have never breastfed to understand the ways in which mothers have the endurance to deal with nipple-pinching or straight-up acrobatics while breastfeeding. I have received the strangest glances and awkward giggles when people watch my 1.5-year-old standing on my lap while suckling … sometimes on one leg!”

Trinati took a photo of herself breastfeeding her toddler in Costco to emphasize the lengths mothers go to care for their kids, regardless of the situation. She posted the picture on Instagram to show her daughter in the future. In the caption, she asserted, “My baby’s needs come waaaaaay before anyone else’s attempts to make me feel inappropriate for this sometimes-public act of nourishing and/or comforting my children.” She aims to normalize breastfeeding in public and highlight a mother’s dedication to her child’s well-being.

Trinati wants her children to understand that they are her top priority, regardless of what others think. She believes trust is crucial for building healthy relationships and starts with the care provided in childhood. Breastfeeding, for her, is a way to demonstrate this care to her children. Trinati emphasizes that she will never feel ashamed for allowing her baby to breastfeed in any environment, as it’s an important part of nurturing her child and fostering trust.

There is a lot to be said for both sides of the debate. What do you think about breastfeeding in public? Let us know in the comments!
